Jen Fuller Fitness is a service and experience designed to help one regain a natural state of alignment and health.
“The Key is looking at what is causing the symptom not treating the symptom.”
No matter if you are a top-notch athlete, a weekend warrior, or someone with a chronic condition/pain, this work will give you tools to last throughout your life.
What is Egoscue? (Alignment Therapy)
Egoscue is Pete’s last name. In 1971 Pete Egoscue decided to start what he called the Egoscue Method as a way to help people restore their bodies back to the way it was designed. He felt pain was a sign that something was happening in the body that needed attention. He also felt that is was important for people to feel personally in charge of their bodies. He designed this modality to help people regain the ability to move as nature intended.
The methodology uses a series of gentle “stretches” and exercises (e-cises) put in a certain order for each individual to help them overcome their lack of function and/or pain. For example 6 people could all have the same pain (symptom), but when I look at each person it becomes apparent that the compensations are not the same so the remedy is not the same. The key to optimum physical health is motion. Restriction of activities and the presence of pain are the end result of the body’s inability to move in a coordinated and naturally supportive manner. The Egoscue method helps to re-educate the body to return to normal alignment and function. It is a unique and effective program designed to treat musculoskeletal pain without drugs or surgery.
Remember, you would not drive your Ferrari misaligned! In general people take better care of their cars then their own bodies. If you hit a pothole in your car at 60 miles an hour and the axle is bent as a result, you most likely would not continue to drive the car. Just imagine what would happen over time! To properly take care of your car you would first straighten the axle so that the rest of the car did not fall apart! Unfortunately the most conventional methods treat symptom not the cause.
What I offer:
One on One Therapy is directed toward helping You understand and gain the tools to restore Your body back to how it is designed. The muscles tell the bones what to do and the nervous system runs the show.
Pain usually develops over time with injuries and degeneration occurring as a result. The good news is you can get out of pain. In one on one therapy I look at what is causing you to be out of alignment. For example if you have a frozen shoulder the chain of muscles to your hips are now affected and so on. In other words, jut because the pain is in a certain spot does not mean it is the problem. The body works as a unit so I help identify where the problem is coming from.
When dysfunctional patterns have developed and chronic pain or conditions are present, it takes time to create change so it is important to have a person commit to a period of time so that the muscles & nervous system have time to hold changes. After the first session, we decide together how many sessions are needed. The good news is, it does not take as long to change the pattern/s as it took to get into the pattern/s.

Dress: Preferably clothing that allows us both to see the joint position and body alignment. Lighter clothes are better for pictures and evaluation and more form fitting cloths are better to see the muscle, joint and skeletal position. Bring a pair of sneakers in case they are needed for certain exercises, otherwise you will be mostly barefoot.
During this process you are welcome to call or schedule time for a brief overview of your exercises and/or questions that might come up.
Remember it is a team effort and the changes happen over time and not all at once. It is a process not an event.
Group Alignment Classes are on going during the week. Class is 1 hour of gentle alignment exercises designed to help align your body and set you up for your day. Having done therapy for 20 years plus my strength in mechanics and movement, I teach my classes with each person’s body mechanics and compensations in mind at all times. The class is not about stretching but all about re-aligning so that your nervous system reestablishes what the body inherently knows. My philosophy is geared toward you understanding how your body works so you can help yourself. Remember, You are the expert ultimately. I just help you put the pieces of the puzzle back together so that your body can function more fully.
